Dev completed her dual Biology and Journalism degrees at CUNY Brooklyn College, where she researched adaptive immune system evolution in Seahorses and Pipefish. She is interested in investigating anthropogenically driven adaptation. In her free time she enjoys being outside, petting her dog, petting other people’s dogs, and buying plants.

Natalie Castillo

PhD Student, EBE

Natalie completed dual degrees in Biology and Central American Studies at CSU Northridge. Her undergraduate research focused on investigating invasive Brown Widow (Latrodectus geometricus) ecology in Southern California and wild pollinator thermal physiology in the Colombian Andes. For her PhD she is interested in investigating the ecological and evolutionary processes promoting Aedes mosquitoes invasion and spread of arboviruses in California through population genomics. In her free time she enjoys concerts, playing sports, exploring nature, and traveling.

James E. Fifer

Postdoc

James completed his PhD at Boston University where he studied coral population genomics. He is interested in investigating ecological speciation and genomic signatures of adaptation. In his free time James enjoys splashing around in the ocean, riding his bike and yelling about Boston sports.

Medhini Sosale

Phd Student, Biosciences

Medhini completed her BS in Bioengineering at George Mason University and conducted research sequencing mitochondrial genomes for multiple lesser-known mammal species. During her PhD, she hopes to apply ecological genomics to investigate anthropogenic impacts on mosquito evolution. In her free time, Medhini enjoys dancing, reading, and looking for animals under small rocks.

Michael Amoa-Bosompem

Postdoc – now Ambry Genetics

Michael completed his PhD at the Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Tokyo Japan. His PhD thesis and research interest is on understanding the genetic basis of vector competence in arbovirus transmission. In his free time, Michael enjoys watching soccer, the occasional Futsal and playing board games like chess and monopoly

Eleanor Terner

SRA1/Technician – Now PhD Student, ESPM UC Berkeley

Eleanor completed her BS in Biology at UC San Diego, where her thesis centered around characterizing the development of sexual dimorphisms in insect visual systems. She is interested in further exploring how evolution guides development and ecology. She enjoys gardening, giving unsolicited animal facts to friends, and traveling.
